Trump’s takeover of DC police renews the 51st state debate

President Donald Trump’s decision to federalize the Metropolitan Police Department in the District of Columbia has Democrats renewing calls for D.C. statehood, while Republicans cite the takeover as grounds to revoke Washington’s home rule.

Trump announced on Monday that he will, in addition to taking control of MPD, activate the National Guard in coordination with several federal law enforcement agencies to combat violent crime in the nation’s capital.

Mainstream media scoff at President Trump’s efforts to save DC

Despite having one of their ABC News colleagues in D.C. be a carjack victim this morning, ABC NewsTonight anchor David Muir and chief WH correspondent Mary Bruce scoff at crime concerns in the capital, saying “crime stats” refute Trump’s “apocalyptic picture” and “adamant” view “crime is spiraling out of control.”

The Left Drops All Pretenses. Now It’s Pro-Open Borders and Crime by John Zmirak

Yesterday I explained the deeper reasons — beyond Trump Derangement Syndrome — why the Left is at once pro-censorship and pro-police state, but also pro-open borders and pro-crime: to beat the citizenry into learned helplessness so nobody pushes back against elites who rule by decree.

Today let’s celebrate the fact that the explicit embrace of anarcho-tyranny doesn’t play well with voters outside a few cossetted neighborhoods, the criminal underclass, and foreign invaders. Everybody else is viscerally repulsed. See these comments from D.C. residents praising President Donald Trump’s initiative.

The Republican-controlled Texas Senate officially passed a new congressional redistricting map today.

The map, passed 19–2 along party lines, is designed to create up to five new Republican‑drawn U.S. House seats in anticipation of the 2026 midterm elections.

Democrat whistleblower told FBI that Schiff okayed leaking classified intel to hurt Trump

A career intelligence officer who worked for Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee for more than a decade repeatedly warned the FBI beginning in 2017 that then-Rep. Adam Schiff had approved leaking classified information to smear then-President Donald Trump over the now-debunked Russiagate scandal, according to bombshell FBI memos that Director Kash Patel has turned over to Congress.

The FBI 302 interview reports obtained by Just the News state the intelligence staffer — a Democrat by party affiliation who described himself as a friend to both Schiff, now a California senator, and former Republican House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes — considered the classified leaking to be “unethical,” “illegal,” and “treasonous,” but was told not to worry about it because Schiff believed he would be spared prosecution under the Constitution’s speech and debate clause.

Trump Sought Orbán’s Advice on Ukraine Ahead of Alaska Summit with Putin

US President Donald Trump sought advice from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán ahead of the upcoming summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

During a White House press conference on 11 August, Monday, Trump said he asked Orbán—whom he described as a ‘very smart man’—whether he thinks Ukraine can defeat Russia. According to Trump, Orbán replied by stating that Russia is a ‘strong country that has gained its territories and everything it has through war.’ ‘War is what it does best,’ Trump continued, quoting Orbán. The Hungarian prime minister then compared China’s trade power with Russia’s military experience: ‘China wins through trade, and Russia wins through war.’ Trump called Orbán’s words ‘a very interesting insight’.

The Caliphate Is Advancing in the European Twilight

There are ideas so unthinkable and absurd that they are dismissed with a laugh and a flick of the hand—until they materialize.

One such idea is the introduction of sharia. And yet, here we are.

‘LIKE A HORROR MOVIE’: Man wakes up before having organs harvested

[A woman] recounts her brother waking up prior to his organ harvesting surgery, and Federation of American Scientists’ Jennifer Erickson discusses concerns regarding the organ transplant system.  … Erickson says, “Right now there is a network of taxpayer-funded monopoly organ contractors across the United States. They all got put there in the 1980s and never, not once in 40 years, have any of them been replaced. Not when they have done dangerous things like in TJ’s case lying to families and harming patients.”

Anti-Trump Seattle-area man charged in shooting of wheelchair-bound veteran

A man who once made national headlines for previously driving a van into a tent of Trump campaign volunteers is now charged with shooting a wheelchair-bound veteran along Seattle’s waterfront.

Gregory William Timm, now 32, first gained notoriety in 2020 when he plowed his vehicle into a Republican voter registration tent in Jacksonville, Florida. No one was injured, but the attack rattled volunteers and drew a sharp rebuke from then-President Donald Trump, who warned on social media: “Be careful tough guys who you play with!”

Timm was convicted of criminal mischief in that case, later telling the court he felt it was his “duty” to take action against the Trump administration.

There Is No Way To Moderate Transgenderism. It Must Be Destroyed

In a recent piece in The New York Times, Kinnon R. MacKinnon —“an assistant professor who studies transgender care at York University in Toronto” and identifies as a “trans man”— grudgingly admits that the critics were right and that gender ideology, and especially the medical transition of children, was built on lies.

MacKinnon did not put it so directly, of course. Rather, she eagerly bashed the Trump administration’s efforts against gender ideology, complaining that “Under the guise of protecting children from medical harm, the Trump administration is oversimplifying detransition and using it as a political cudgel against transgender health care.” Nonetheless, she quietly makes a series of admissions that, only a few years ago, would have been dismissed as reactionary bigotry.

British Police Arrest Pro-Life Woman Third Time for Praying Outside Abortion Center

A woman arrested twice for silently praying outside an abortion clinic, who received a £13,000 payout in acknowledgement of her unjust treatment, is now being investigated for silently praying outside an abortion clinic for a third time. …

Responding to the news, [Isabel] Vaughan-Spruce said, “Despite being fully vindicated multiple times after being wrongfully arrested for my thoughts, it’s unbelievable that two and a half years later, I am still being harassed by police for silently praying in that area, and yet again find myself under investigation for the same prayers I have said for twenty years”.

“Silent prayer cannot possibly be a crime – everyone has the right to freedom of thought”.

Report states an average of 30 Christians murdered each day in Nigeria in 2025

A new report by the Catholic-inspired International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law, Intersociety, asserts that at least 7,087 Christians were massacred across Nigeria in the first 220 days of 2025—a daily average of 32 Christians killed per day.

The report published on August 10th also states that 7,899 others were abducted for being Christian. According to Emeka Umeagbalasi, the head of Intersociety, the killings and abductions are driven by some 22 jihadist groups that have made the West African nation their home.

The report claims these groups aim to eliminate an estimated 112 million Christians and 13 million adherents of traditional religions, particularly targeting the South-East and South-South regions.

Mariologist Sees ‘Providential’ Signs in Pope Leo XIV’s Marian Devotion

From his actions and words so far, Pope Leo XIV has displayed a strong Marian devotion reminiscent of his namesake predecessor, Pope Leo XIII, raising hopes that perhaps Leo XIV will proclaim the long awaited and long petitioned proclamation of a fifth Marian dogma.

These are observations of Mariologist Mark Miravalle, a professor of theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville, who has been struck by the clear and profound Marian references Leo XIV has made in these first 100 days of his pontificate.

Catholic journalist calls for fasting and prayer ahead of Trump-Putin meeting

I can’t help but see spiritual meaning behind the Trump-Putin meeting being on the Feast of the Assumption/Dormition, and that it’s in a land with deep (Russian) Christian roots.

We need to pray and fast for our world leaders and to Our Lady to bring us peace.
