Why America Matters

When it comes to the control of US institutions, opting out is not an option

Conservatives often feel alienated in modern society. With progressive ideas dominating media, schools and politics, many patriots simply feel unwelcome in the future the Left has in mind.

Because of this, some conservatives choose to opt out. As proponents of "live and let live," they often prefer to step back and move to places where they can live in peace and focus on their families, faith and local communities rather than getting caught up in the bigger cultural battles.

But, the truth is, conservatives can't afford to check out of society.

Americans often see their nation differently than the rest of the world. They see it as home, with all the faults that familiarity brings. It is normal, sometimes boring, and certainly in need of a new coat of paint and renewed attention to infrastructure. But, it is because of this familiarity that many Americans don't realize the responsibility they've inherited.

Modern Americans inherited a powerhouse, and I believe that too few of them grasp just how unique that is.

In the rest of the world's eyes, especially the governments of foreign nations, America is an incontestable military and economic giant. It is the source of numerous systems of power that keep their power, or dreams of power, in check – systems that those nations work tirelessly to undermine.

It is for this reason that subversive forces within the United States work ceaselessly to attain and retain control of America's systems of power – these systems are a vehicle through which domestic enemies can enforce their goals of global domination and control.

THE SYSTEMS OF POWER

I recently toured the National Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio, and while there, I was like a kid in a candy shop. Beyond that, the experience reinforced to me, a son of Canada, just how unique America is. No other nation, for example, has developed or advanced technology as much as the United States has.

That museum housed three giant hangars full of aircraft. They ranged from the first inventions that allowed humans to take to the skies in fixed-wing aircraft (The Wright Flyer from Kitty Hawk, North Carolina) to the advancements made during the world wars, the Cold War behemoths, incredibly advanced modern aircraft, and finally, the crafts that carried man into space.

While some nations – Canada, for instance – can still barely afford to buy fighter jets, America, the nation just across the border, invented so many different types of jets for different types of environments (high-altitude supersonic bombers, multipurpose fighters, close ground support aircraft, heavy lifting beasts for cargo, and numerous others) that it almost staggers the mind.

And yet, while US technological and military power is impressive, it is hardly the full extent of America's dominance.

The United States plays a pivotal role in the world order through its leadership in the "international superstructure," a series of international organizations that act to create global consensus on issues from war and security conflicts, to everything from finance to healthcare, trade, and numerous other key issues.

Major institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, along with high-profile gatherings such as the G7 and G20, as well as the enigmatic World Economic Forum and the Bilderberg Group, wield significant influence on global economic and political strategies.

These institutions were established at the end of the Second World War to promote peace, stability and economic prosperity. These entities are often regarded as the guardians of global stability and prosperity. However, their policy decisions frequently benefit elite networks and their own self-interests (including goals pertaining to global government) at the expense of ordinary citizens.

Intelligence alliances, like the Five Eyes, are powerful tools for national security. But, they can quickly become a nightmare in the hands of those who would use them to persecute political opponents. We saw this recently with the Steele Dossier, which was an intelligence operation that included members of at least three allied states – the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.

Although the United States holds considerable sway in these forums, it's not always clear that American interests – especially those of the average citizen – are the priority.

REASONS TO STAY INVOLVED

There is a popular saying that America cannot be destroyed from without. I think that is largely correct. Outside of a suicidal conglomerate of nations deciding that mutually assured destruction is the best course of action, no power on earth can actually conquer the United States.

But, there are pathways to conquest that do not require landing armed forces on America's coasts, and these would be just as fatal – perhaps even more so than a massive military incursion. Worryingly, these threats have been increasing for almost three decades.

While the nuclear triad provides a strong defense against conventional attack, another triad of problems undermines the very foundations upon which that defense rests. These are the crisis of competence, mass immigration paired with the proliferation of anti-American ideologies, and economic idiocy.

America's current approach to mass immigration, diversity initiatives, and economic policy are all significant cause for concern.

IMMIGRATION

Uncontrolled immigration strains public resources and funding. In 1995, the National Institutes of Health found that the cost of illegal mass immigration to taxpayers was about $16 billion per year. Today, that cost is almost $500 billion annually. Oxford's Paul Collier found that mass immigration also complicates cultural integration; as immigrant numbers increase, they are less likely to assimilate and more likely to create pockets of foreign populations still heavily-connected in terms of language, culture and loyalty to their nations of origin.

The combined effects of economic strain and the erosion of a common American identity have a significant effect on national security – especially in a representative democracy like the United States. It may be too late on this front already, but, certainly if this is allowed to continue, Americans will lose all control over their institutions, as diasporas compete to elect racially- and culturally-favorable candidates.

Immigration can be a useful tool for a nation when harnessed wisely. However, the United States has not done so for decades, and this is beginning to show.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION (DEI)

Diversity mandates, when not implemented thoughtfully, undermine the effectiveness of our institutions for the same reasons that large foreign diasporas do. When people are placed in positions of authority not because they love their nation and want to make it great, but rather due to their racial, cultural or political (not to mention gender or sexual) orientations, those institutions become weapons to be wielded on behalf of the group they represent.

If I were China, or India, or any other of a host of nations with strategic reason to want to undermine the United States, I would push DEI above all else. It is the perfect tool to obfuscate the fact that I am placing my agents, or those loyal to me, within the centers of power.

When combined with the propensity of foreign diasporas to vote for representatives of their race, culture or religion (e.g., Sadiq Khan in Britain or Ilhan Omar in Minnesota), the placement of peoples with loyalties that supersede allegiance to the United States should be seen by anyone with a shred of intelligence as a significant concern.

IDIOT ECONOMICS

Finally, bad economic policies have already weakened America substantially. Decades of favoring short-term gains and special interests at the expense of long-term economic stability have gutted the middle class and created the perfect nesting ground for ideologies driven by helplessness.

While this would be a serious concern in a unipolar world, in the growing multipolar world it is suicidal.

One main drive of the BRICS trade group is to eventually build to a point where they can challenge the United States as an alternative reserve currency. If that time comes, America's preference for inflationary printing and wasteful spending will be unsustainable and it could face the sort of runaway inflation that characterized Weimar Germany prior to Adolf Hitler's rise to power.

At that point, how would the United States fund its military and feed its people – much less keep the growing diasporas from tearing the nation apart?

THE MULTIPOLAR WORLD AND AMERICA'S FUTURE

It is for these reasons that any and all who love America must re-engage the public sphere with vigor.

Unlike Rome, if America falls, it could trigger global disintegration. The country's stockpile of nuclear weapons alone – not to mention the staggering, worldwide financial and security fallout – render a possible US collapse a far more dangerous event to humanity at large.

Worse yet, a scenario in which the nation is allowed to be subverted by foreign powers through the above-mentioned programs makes these issues much bigger deals than simply policy disputes between Democrats and Republicans.

If the United States falls, there will be nowhere to escape to; if conservatives opt out now, how long will it be before these crises are at our doorstep?

What we face today is not something we can continually run away from. At some point, those on the Right have to dig in and regain control of America's institutions – for the sake of both the country and the world.

Failure is not an option.
