Catholic Nun Calls 2024 Election: 'Good vs Evil'

Updated: Jul 17

'Which side of history do you stand on?'

A Catholic nun is proclaiming what more people are coming to understand — we are engaged in a do-or-die spiritual conflict.

On her popular eponymously named podcast series, Mother Miriam of the Lamb of God, O.S.B. declared with the perspicacity of the saints:

“If President Trump gets in, it’s a complete act of God.”

"If Biden is not reelected,” she continued, “it is a complete act of God, because every scheme and every evil is out there that he would continue to be our president as inept and evil as he is, at least done evil things.”

“We are up against not just an election, but an absolute war for good against evil,” she concluded.

The Texas-based nun's remarks, originally made in March, have since gone viral.

Catholic governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) reposted Mother Miriam's video remarks, describing her as a “Catholic nun sharing the truth.”

General Mike Flynn, also a Catholic and former National Security Advisor to President Trump, re-shared the nun's comments, along with this heading:

"Despite the odds almost totally stacked against Trump, he continues to maintain his momentum and stand as a modern-day David versus Goliath. We are in the midst of a spiritual war of Good vs Evil."

"Which side of history do you stand on?", the general asked, confronting viewers.

Coincidentally, Mother Miriam’s pro-Trump spiritual remarks resonate with polling numbers, showing the 45th US President scoring better with Catholics than four years ago.

New surveys show a growing shift among Catholic voters away from the self-professed Catholic Joe Biden toward the MAGA candidate.

Four years ago, Catholics voted in favor of Trump 1% more than Biden (50-49%). This year, Trump is currently up 12 points over Biden (55%-43%) among Catholic voters.

The shift is even more pronounced among Hispanics, who make up approximately 40% of Catholics in the US.

In 2020, Hispanic Catholics preferred Biden to Trump 67-26%. Current polling, however, has Biden leading by only two percentage points, 49 to 47% – essentially wiping out the Dems' lead.

'The Religion of Antichrist'

A month before Mother Miriam’s inspired proclamation, an Irish journalist writing for the European Conservative, was coming to a related conclusion.

In the essay "The Religion of Antichrist," Mark Dooley, writes, "[W]e are engaged in ...

nothing less than a lethal spiritual conflict."

Dooley rejects outright the idea of a "cultural war" to explain the struggles surrounding us worldwide:

"The biggest mistake we make is in believing that we are in a so-called ‘culture war.’ The phrase ‘culture war’ assumes that both sides have rival cultures they are battling to defend and promote. However, the enemies of civilisation [sic], of life, and love, have no culture."

"If you perceive the assault on marriage, the family, innocence, and the very nature of the biological order as a culture war, you will be at a loss to explain why there is such a ferocious attack on the sanctity of sexuality," he continues.

Dooley argues that without accepting the truth of the spiritual battle we are engaged in, we'll be unable to explain to children why heterosexuality is not merely one of a myriad number of acceptable gender options, why puberty blockers are not simply a "lifestyle choice," but "an outrageous violation of natural sexual development," or why euthanasia is not "an act of mercy."

The journalist notes, though, that "most Christians and conservatives" are still unwilling "to use the word 'evil' when describing the forces that we face." He says they have "bought into the psychobabble of the age," choosing "to explain [evil] in purely naturalistic or psychological terms."

The author admits he himself was once unable to face evil — until he realized "the gravity of what was happening around me."

Two thousand years ago, the Apostles and early disciples likewise eventually realized the gravity of what was happening around them, choosing to follow Jesus and spread the good news.

Saint Paul reminded the Church at Ephesus — as Mother Miriam effectively reminds us today, wherever we are — that "[O]ur wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and power, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places."

To that knowledge, St. Paul advises:

"So stand fast with your loins girded in truth, clothed with righteousness as a breastplate, and your feet shod in readiness for the gospel of peace. In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

In his gospel, St. John also refers to the undeniable real power of evil playing out in the world. In Chapter 8, Jesus addresses the Pharisees making clear why they cannot bear to hear His Word:

"You belong to your father the devil and you willingly carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks in character, because he is a liar and the father of lies."

"But because I speak the truth, you do not believe me," He said.

Like the devil, evil leaders and their mouthpieces in the media are strategically set on doing their own will, ignoring the Word of God. Mother Miriam warned, with respect to those who surround Biden and advise and serve him, “the devil is wise.”

“I would not put it past them to do anything,” she added.

But, there's also an undeniable eye-opening change for good happening among many Catholics this election season — away from the lies of the mainstream media and toward the everlasting truths of Jesus.

How much it is bound to affect the outcome of the November ballot remains to be seen.
