Which way does the priest face when he offers Mass? Does he have his back to you — or his back to God? The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is supposed to be said ad orientem, meaning “facing east.” Unfortunately, most priests say it versus populum, which means “facing the people.” Does it really make a difference, or is one as good as the other?
